Claudia had a laptop (that weighed 8 pounds. Janine had gotten it for her. It was top of the line...for 1991) and had managed to somehow connect to the school's internet connection.

She'd downloaded AOL (all the cool kids were on AOL, right?) and after 18 hours she had a shiny new application called "instant messaging."

After choosing a username ("fuknykishi"), she logged into the chat listed in the handbook (she'd been checking to see if she needed to wear a uniform):

fuknykishi: HI ITS CLUADIA ANY1 HEAR?!1

TamedByLion: It's actually much better, thank you for asking. But it did go on. I was fed up by the end of it. What does 'OMG' mean?

TamedByLion: Oh, I see. Or I C. Did I get that right? If this talking is IM, then yes. This is my first computer actually. I've used them before in the school computer room, but I've never had one of my own.

TamedByLion: Different year, then different world. Originally from 1940 England. I live in a different country now. Different world really. It doesn't exactly line up with the Earth years.

TamedByLion: Narnia matches up sort of with medieval times if we're talking technology and such. But with better health care. I've never been to Los Angeles. Is it really as big as everyone says?

TamedByLion: A brother and two sisters. I'm the third oldest. If my younger sister's complaints are anything to go by (they're not really), then you must have your hands full with your brothers.

TamedByLion: Peter is the eldest. He's 19 now, I think. Susan is next, then me, then Lucy is the youngest. She's 2 years younger than me.
